Is chiropractic care necessary for children?

One of the joys of working at Align 4 Life is that it is a family clinic and we have the pleasure of seeing families grow up and getting to know the children. It can sometimes be challenging keeping the clinic interesting for youngsters and still calm and serene for the more mature, but that makes sure the job is always varied! So why do families bring their youngsters in? Did you know a child's spine grows 50% in just their first year of life, another 42% from ages 1-5 and continues up through the mid-30s? Those first few years of life are when a child will learn to crawl, walk and fall. Beyond that first year, childhood is full of vigorous play and tumbles. With a high potential for trauma and the spine growing at its fastest rate, regular chiropractic check ups are essential to reducing spinal issues that naturally accompany growing, learning and exploring their world.

“As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”
Care early on gives a child the best possible chance of a fully functioning spine. Many issues we see in adults are the result of something that happened years ago, quietly worsening until their body could no longer adapt and symptoms arise.
So, regular chiropractic care is a gift you could give a child that they might not appreciate on Christmas Day, but they will certainly appreciate later in life, perhaps when they have their own children! In the meantime, we will keep looking for lost jigsaw pieces down the back of the traction equipment and tinsel hiding behind the filing cabinet!
