Beating the Blues

The holiday season is fast approaching and sometimes it brings more than joy. With important work deadlines, family plans and sometimes stress, it's also a common time of the year for our bodies to become drained leading to illness. Here's how you can ensure peak holiday health. 1) Incorporate more Vitamin C into your diet organically. This means choosing foods like oranges, red peppers and broccoli instead of popping synthetic vitamins. Be conscious of what you're eating. During the holiday's we tend to eat a lot, and it's not always the best types of food. Stay aware of what you're putting into your body and be sure to get your fair share of fruits and veggies. 2) Skip the sugar. We tend to lose sight of eating well over the holidays and indulge in things we usually wouldn't, which can compromise our bodies. 3) Seek sunshine. If it's sunny, take a walk outdoors. If you're experiencing cold and dreary weather, consider a light therapy lamp. 4) Don't overdo it. Getting enough rest plays a key role in leading a happy and healthy life. Take some time out to relax and even meditate. This will help to re-balance stress levels leading to better quality of sleep, improved brain function and will make you and those around you feel happier! 5) Stay Hydrated. Hydrating with a tall glass of water once you get out of bed wakes up your body. Even better is adding some lemon juice. A small squeeze may yield big health dividends as lemon water is thought to have a variety of benefits such as boosting immunity and enhancing digestion. Aim to take in around 2-3 litres of pure water each day to stay hydrated and help the body to cleanse and filter out impurities. 6) Get adjusted. Chiropractic care can help keep your nervous system in balance. When your nervous system is working properly, so are other critical bodily systems important to your health. Make an appointment before you start to feel a cold or flu coming on!
